I was very disappointed I missed fellow tour mates Heavy Hawaii, who I highly recommend seeing. I had a brilliant assumption it was a late show, as always, and almost missed the show. Come on, One Eyed Jacks, you're killing me! Luckily, I caught the entire set by The Soft Pack and was boy, I was glad to see them. I hung in the back for the first couple tracks, threw down a few beers and by the third track, I was front row head banging away. The Soft Pack band makes you feel young again, in every form of fashion. They played almost all the new tracks from their sophomore album entitled Strapped, released September 25th on Mexican Summer.
"Extinction" and "Answer to Yourself" were my favorite tracks of the night as the band kept the crowd moving around the whole night (quite a few dancers up front, not to name names). Met up with the lead singer after the gig and showed him around Frenchmen Street; Matt Lamkin is a cool dude. I wish these guys the best and hope they keep bringing the noise for years to come.
The Soft Pack is continuing their North American tour in support of Strapped.
