Asian Robin here. I enjoyed your discussion of the Bay Area and the different Amoebas. I just visited L.A. last week and my friends and I agree that the L.A. Amoeba is better than the SF Amoeba (and the Berkeley one, but the Berkeley one has sentimental value for being the first of the Amoebas). But when I lived in L.A., you had the opportunity to see Morrissey next to you, shopping for records. Also, better layout, more spacious and good for seeing their free shows.
And I liked your Elvis Costello story! I guess a bunch of us were at his show with Sleeper :). I do wish in retrospect that I'd stayed past hearing "Veronica" though, I love Elvis! Too young to know better.
Sincerely,
Proud to be Asian Robin, adores White Robin
