He started off with "Apologize (If You Tried)," then quickly launched into his Gray's Anatomy song, "Say A Lot." As you can tell, most of his brief 30-minute set included songs from his 2007 album, Alterations and Repairs, like the first few songs and "If We Lived Here." His outro song, as he serenade us, was "Salt Point."
Highlight for Buddy was his cover of Kelis' "Milkshake."
We first saw Meiko at The Hotel Café Festival 2007 and covered her at SXSW 2009, so, yes, we love Meiko.
Meiko started off her show with "Reasons To Love You," followed by "How Lucky We Are" (otherwise known as "Sh***y Apartment.")
Most of her songs on the setlist were about love and relationships, which she didn't hesitate to tell us little stories about each song. Songs played were understandably from her latest release, The Bright Side: "I'm in Love," "Stuck on You," "Leave the Lights On," "When the Doors Close," "Good Looking Loser," "Lie to Me," "I'm Not Sorry," and "Real Real Sweet" (which she ended her set with.)
She did throw some old favorites like "Piano Song," "Boys With Girlfriends," and "Sleep" (per fan's request.)
You can tell that Meiko was quite pleased at the large turnout last night. She was the most talkative I've ever seen her and she looked happier than ever. I suppose that's her positive side, as reflected on her happier songs on the new album, The Bright Side.
Encore songs were "Hawaii" and "You Gotta F***in' Tip." The latter is obviously about the time when she was waitressing at Hotel Café. The story behind this song was some jerk ordered two Grey Goose Martinis and gave a big fat zero on the tip line. This is where she got scary and stalkerish and found him on his Myspace page. So, let that be a lesson to you all.*
Meiko is currently on tour in support of her latest album, The Bright Side, out now via Fantasy/Concord Records.

* PS, I have a funny tip story; I was on holiday in a remote Asian city and ate at this tiny restaurant. When I got up to leave, the waitress stopped me and said I forgot my money on the table. You don't know how weird it is to explain to someone that the money was tip (apparently no one tips in that part of the country.)
