Some American festivals: Bonnaroo (Tennessee), 80/35 Festival (Iowa), Lollapalooza (various, currently Illinois), SXSW (Texas), Coachella (California), 10,000 Lakes Festival (Minnesota), Summerfest (Wisconsin), and Edgefest (inactive, Wisconsin).
We recorded that on a whim, so excuse the lack of research. Obviously, not a definitive guide. Here are some other North American festivals you may want to check out: Lilith Fair (various), Ozzfest (California, Arizona), Woodstock (New York), Pitchfork Music Festival (Illinois), and recently NXNE (Toronto, Canada).
I've been to a few giant festival, including the first Coachella and the now-defunct Edgefest, and I can tell you that generally these are gated. Food and drinks are extra expensive, and girls and boys tend to be topless, especially when it's hot.
The two interesting festival that I may be interested in seeing is the mostly-female lineup from Lilith Fair and Toronto's NXNE - obviously their answer to SXSW. I reckon that I love SXSW, that I will enjoy what NXNE might offer.
Other things we touched on, there is a new Teenage Fanclub album coming out in May, and Groovin' the Moo festival that takes place in "country towns" in Australia. If you stick around, Sally tells us why she hates Amy Macdonald.
Upcoming shows: Interview with Here We Go Magic (April 4th), and the original Cristina (April 11th).
