Interrupting the Silence
Max Morgan is a 22 year old Liverpool, England born Los Angeles, California based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist; Interrupting the Silence is his debt album on Chime Entertainment. Max has been building up quite a buzz in the last few months leading up to this release. Those of you who are fans of Grey's Anatomy would have heard “Secret” and I first heard of this artist while watching the NFL Network, who along with ESPN gave viewers the opportunity to hear both “Secret” and “Wait for Me”.
With the release of Interrupting the Silence, I expect things to ramp up in this artists schedule. Very few new artists in this music industry climate get an opportunity to have their music heard prior to their release dates on such a variety of different media outlets and that speaks to the quality of the music and the talent of the artist.
Interrupting the Silence is fused with a mix of pop sensibilities, mid tempo ballads and anthem rockers and it's obvious on first listen that Max did not want to pigeon hole himself in as an artist and that is to be commended. Hailing from Liverpool, he has had to withstand the obvious comparisons with many of his contemporaries from across the Pond, but when I first got a hold of this CD, the first artist that came to my mind was Robin Thicke before he hooked up with the Neptunes and Pharrell Williams.
With 11 Tracks, the album gets off to a very welcome start with “Loneliest Man In The World” which I was feeling right away, and though I don't think he is quite ready for stadium tours, when he is ready Max will have several stadium ready anthems to choose from his debut album and “You Better Believe” definitely fits the bill. “Wait for Me”, brought to mind some of the classic stadium ballads from Journey's “Frontiers” album and this song stands up to “Faithfully” and “Give Her My Love” and, to me, is one of the best tracks on the album.
This is a quality release from a very talented new artist, who is on his way and off to a really good start. I look forward to hearing more from Max Morgan.
