The Jet Age are an indie rock band from Silver Spring, Maryland.
They have an album released today (Feb 5th) called What Did You Do During the War, Daddy? and also playing at DC9 in Washington, DC, on February 24th.
What's interesting about their second album is that there is an underlying theme of being a musical in three acts. If you notice the album artwork, it even lists the album as an "original cast recording".
Speaking of the creepy cover artwork, it's by Laurence Campbell, whose comic book art style looks very similar to Sean Phillips.
I wanted to give you a little background story to the album: In act one of the story, you're introduced to the happy couple. Act two is about the government and the husband's obsession with it. By the time act three comes around, the husband is planning to sacrifice himself for revolution.
To get the whole experience, you must listen to the whole album - so choosing just one song kind of defeats the idea behind the album. However, they did offer some songs for free on their website.
I did manage to also check out their first album, Breathless, and I liked "Please Come Home Now". The song reminds me of Superchunk - doesn't it?
The Jet Age's What Did You Do During the War, Daddy? is released on Sonic Boommerang Recordings.
