Here's a band that I think will be really massive: Kate Tucker & The Sons of Sweden.
They have the right formula: the sweet, lush, dreamy vocals of Kate Tucker, backed by an equally melodic band of The Sons of Sweden, and produced by Ryan Hadlock (who also produced Blonde Redhead[W♥M] and The Gossip[1]).
So, despite their name, I don't think the Sons of Sweden are actually from Sweden, however I did find out that only two of the members (Mark Isakson and Cameron Herrington) are true Swedes.
Their album, released on Red Valise Records came out on October 30th (sold at various retailers, including Amazon).
The CD package looks like a mini poetry and photograph book, with slick thick black and white pages. It's very attractive and was designed by Tim Stuby, they include interior photos were taken by Robertsen Ashman alongside the lyrics of the album.
My favorite song off the album is "Saturday Night". It has a very nice pace and highlight her vocals clearly. Especially during the chorus, "You got me going under/Like a wave like a rolling thunder/It rolls right over me".
Check out the high definition video for Say Love, it'll take a few minutes to download, but it's worth checking out.
PS: I am going to start putting "Influences" or "Sounds Like" section, based on what is listed on myspace (unless I realize they're a joke), because often if you enjoy these bands, you'll probably enjoy the band we're spotlighting. Plus, you'll also see links if we've covered those other bands in the past. Suddenly I know I want to write about Beth Orton & Low (they're from Duluth, MN!)
