I saw Jim Gaffigan last night (Oct 13th) at the Orpheum Theater. He's really popular here in Minneapolis and have sold out at least two shows, so he added a few more dates due to popular demand (four shows in total).
I've seen Gaffigan before, a few years ago, and it's pretty much the same show this time (including the same opening comedian).
The opening comedian was Rich Brooks. He only did about fifteen minutes of standup before going off stage. It was the shortest routine I've ever seen!
Gaffigan came on shortly afterwards and went into some new jokes. I would have to say about 50% were new material. I'm not sure if I liked "the new voice", but the familiar jokes and voices are still good.
Of all the new jokes, the one I liked best was the (what seems like) hour long bacon jokes.
He ended the show with his famous "Hot Pockets" joke. He ran off stage and after 30 seconds came back onstage for an encore. I suspect they were on a time schedule because there was another show shortly after they kicked us out the theater.
So currently, Gaffigan is on tour, and he's also half of Pale Force. Pale Force can be seen semi-regularly on Conan O'Brien's show.
PS, I realized that Gaffigan is not a singer, so I'm including Robert Partridge's "Jimmy G" song, which was a birthday gift to Jim Gaffigan. Gaffigan's birthday, incidentally, was on July 7th.
