Milk, no sugar, thanks...
Saturday morning, supposedly doing another pesky university assignment, what better choice of music is there than the most cheesy of cheesy music available. Of course, crooners singing the classics (Ice Ice Baby, Wonderwall, etc) has its element of comedy, but what's more comedic than a group of grown men who produce music, I'm assuming, not meant to make you want to vomit just a little bit.
Let's see, 1996, I was 16 and at my heights of love for Britpop (for want of a better word). My favourite band was blur and I thought the most gorgeous and obtainable (yes, I was delusional) guy on the face of the planet was Alex James. Which brings me to my point.
Me Me Me consisted of three guys:
A band formed soley to write a theme song for a film can't go wrong! Hanging Around, a short film written and directed by Damien Hirst (a friend of Alex's; you're probably familiar with his artwork) starring Eddie Izzard, which i must admit, i haven't seen, but by the sounds of it, the theme song is quite a fitting introduction to the plot.
The band, for obvious reasons, did not release anything other than Hanging Around (with 2 equally cheesy b-sides). I often wonder why no britpop dj's have this song in their collection. Maybe this is why I never made it in the dj-ing world.... (that and and my incredible laziness). Perfect for a pointless jig around the room after a glass or two of your finest, tea that is.
