I don't know if any of you caught the wonderful "Buzzcocks... Imagine A Mildly Amusing Panel Show" which aired on BBC Two on 27th August 2007. For those of you who missed it, I've managed to find the full show on Youtube (Part One, Part Two & Part Three)
Essentially it is a clip show of the best bits from the last two series of the British show, Never Mind The Buzzcocks (NMTB). This edition, however, is presented in the style of BBC One's highbrow arts program, Imagine with the same presenter, Alan Yentob.
There are no prizes available for guessing that NMTB takes it's name from the Sex Pistols' track, "Never Mind The Bollocks". Like it's inspiration NMTB is famous for shaking up the musical establishment with its venomous attacks on pop stars, fame seekers and Z-list celebrities.
In it's heart, it is a good natured musically panel show, which has been successful enough to be entering into it's 21st series this Autumn. When the show started in 1996, it hosted by Mark Larmarr. This special edition covers the more recent Simon Amstell years.
Highlights include Amy Winehouse spitting, the famous Preston episode and an excellent bit of the show called "Who is Lily Saying This About?".
The NMTB format has been exported around the world. In 2002, Marc Maron hosted an unsuccessful US version on VH1. More recently an official Dutch version has been released called Doe Maar Normaal.
Warning: This show contains foul language that may offend some weheartmusic fans. - thedharmablues
