We just got like 500 people visiting I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend and/or Girlfriend, so I looked up the news section to find out why. About four hours ago, a variety of news sites reported that The Rubinoos are suing Avril Lavigne's song "Girlfriend" because it sounded too much like their song "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend".
I've listened to both song and I have to tell you that the Rubinoos are IN THE WRONG. The two songs are obviously very different to each other and there is just one line in question. How can you base a lawsuit around five or six words ?
The line in question is:
Avril Lavigne: "Hey, hey, you, you, I don't like your girlfriend"
The Rubinoos: "Hey, hey, I wanna be your boyfriend"
I hope Lavigne win this case, I honestly think she's cool and I have a lot of respect for her ever since I saw this video on savethemusicfan.com.
I'll sum it up for you: The RIAA was suing some poor underage girl for downloading music. Lavigne's record company, Nettwerk saw that one of the song was "Sk8r Boi" and decided to DEFEND the Texan girl.
So, BOO to the 'Noos!
