Regurgitator's secret origin is that the original three band members (Quan Yeomans, Ben Ely, and Martin Lee) met on a public bus in Brisbane, Australia. It wasn't long before they all left their other respective bands to form Regurgitator to release a self-titled EP.
At the height of their stardom (1998-1999), they had won the prestigious ARIA Award for Album of the Year for Unit (1997). This forced Warner Music Australia to re-issue the album as Unit Reboot, with a new cover and five music videos.
The song I've chosen is "!" or "The Song Formerly Known As", which is an obvious reference to (symbol) Artist Formerly Known As Prince. The song is pretty funky and contains some of my favorite lyrics:
You won't see me down the disco mama
Cos bright lights really hurt my eyes
I'd rather stay and dance with you
To the funky music playing on your stereo
This electro-funk sound is quite different compared to their indie rock songs, which I'll also include one of their video, "Everday Formula". Sorry, the sound is really loud, but that's how it is :/ Anyway, this is one of my favorite video. Don't you love Tron?!??
