Ash confirmed that Twilight of the Innocents (to be released July 2007) will be their last album. The band haven't broken up, they're just going to concentrate on releasing singles and digital downloads versus the traditional albums.

ASH 'HAVE RELEASED LAST ALBUM'

Wheeler said he was "constantly disappointed" with the records he bought and thought reverting to single track releases would keep the fans happier with a constant stream of music.
"The future lies elsewhere and we can have a lot of fun by changing things up. It's like the wild west at the moment, a time to take chances and try out new ideas," the singer said.
Well one of the thing that the album offers is the fan-favorite "hidden track". In the old days, on vinyl, the hidden track would be on an alternate groove (you have to manually move the needle to the correct groove to hear the song).
With the introduction of CDs, the popular hidden track is usually preceded by a long period of silence. This was the case of Ash's debut album, 1977 (1996), which feature a three minute puking marathon. It's not exactly Beethoven, but it's a hidden extra for fans who left the CD running all the way to the end.

[this is good] I worked on that Ash album 1977. If you're really lucky we did a number of the CD's that have got a different hidden track at the start of the album. Essentially we ID'd track two as track one. You have to manually 'rewind' and time it just right. You never know it could be there. Came up with the idea in the pub next door to the office on the Kings Road with the guys from RTM who distributed the record.
