You can probably tell that I like these new wave bands. This one is called Metric, and they are a band from Toronto, Ontario (but formed in New York City).
Someone told me that his theory is that Toronto bands are really from one source: Broken Social Scene, which he insists that there have over fifty band members (in actuality, there's only a few core members, but they can have up 20 if everybody can make it).
I thought about it and wondered what other bands have more than 20 members ? I asked around and got these two: The Polyphonic Spree (when performed live have at most 24 members) and I'm From Barcelona (29 members).
Seriously: what do they all play ?
Anyway, yes, Emily Haines and James Shaw are from Broken Social Scene.
Metric's released two albums Old World Underground, Where Are You Now? (2003) and Live It Out (2005). They do have an album that was recorded in 2001 but was never released until recently called: Grow Up and Blow Away. The 2001 album was released on iTunes June 12th, 2007, and available on CD on June 26, 2007, both with a brand new track listing.
Anyway, there was a reader who commented on "Combat Baby" and she doesn't know how she got it. I can tell you that this was because the song was free on iTunes in 2004.
The song have some pretty catchy and playful lyrics like "combat baby/come back baby".
