EDIT: Due to the recent event that took place at Virginia Tech, I have removed the song I previously posted and replaced it with non-violent tracks.
"Science and Enlightenment" is partially instrumental; about 3/4 of the song is, but the last minute or so has lyrics. "Comets" is purely instrumental.
Pilotdrift are a four-member band from Texarkana, TX and are signed to Good Records, which is The Polyphonic Spree's label. Their sound is well described by CDBaby: "Although difficult to describe, their sound and genre is being compared to that of Pink Floyd and the Beatles, with obvious influences from Sparklehorse, Air, and The Flaming Lips, which are just a few of the groups that characterize Pilotdrift's sound." In 2004, they released their self-released debut, Iter Facere (which is Latin for "road to work zealously" or "road to accomplish" and sounds much better in Latin than English) featuring the fan favorite "Elephant Island". It's now out of print, but sellers on Amazon seem to have copies. After this release and before their next, their lead singer, Micah Dorsey, decided to leave the band with the consent of his bandmates. He was replaced by John David Blagg, although Blagg didn't take over vocals. In 2005,they released their follow-up, Water Sphere featuring songs remade using Kelly Carr's vocals. Both albums feature an instrumental track; Iter Facere features "Sails" which is a smooth, relaxing, mellow sounding tune whereas Water Sphere contains "Comets" that takes you to another world orplanet entirely; like the scenery on the cover art by Pixel Peach, a design company created by Micah's brother Gary and his wife Kaysie. The site also features six tracks from Iter Facere in an audio player located towards the bottom of thepage. Recently, it seems Jay Budzilowski left the group with no official word. I just happened to see his name not listed on their MySpace page and he isn't in the profile photograph. Despite the loss of members, they still seem to be working on a new album.
