For my first post here on We♥Music, I thought I'd share a song that got me into the kind of music I currently listen to. The song is called "Sea King" by Eisley. I first heard this song on MTV's You Hear It First a couple of years ago. Up until then, I wasn't really into music and was listening to mostly hip-hop and pop-rock stuff like Blink 182. But when I first heard a clip of "Sea King", I was hooked. I immediately stopped what I was doing and turned my attention to the tube and watched the segment on Eisley. I loved the fantasy, other-world sound of it and reminds me of fantasy books. The song is on their Marvelous Things EP and is now out of print, but sometimes copies pop up on eBay or you can get it from Amazon sellers.
So, Eisley was my stepping stone into the kind of music I like now which you'll get a taste of when I post stuff here. I guess it's safe to say that they're my favorite band. I even created a fansite for them called Snowflake Village, but I gave up updating it.
Long story, short... Eisley are from Tyler, TX and comprised of five members; four of them are siblings (Sherri, Stacy, Chauntelle, Weston) and the other one is their cousin (Garron) and all have the last name of DuPree. They used to be called MossEisley which was a name they chose from others that got scrapped including Neverland, The Towheads, and Sinclair. MossEisley was named after the Star Wars cantina Mos Eisley and the band liked the sound of it so they decided to use it. But fearing any legal battles with George Lucas, they decided to drop the "Moss" and just stay with Eisley. On the name change, Chauntelle said on the You Hear It First video segment, "Mos Eisley was like a different world, sort of what our music reminds me of... and Eisley is just simpler." When their commercial EP's, Laughing City and Marvelous Things, and their debut album Room Noises were released they were four siblings and their neighbor-friend (Jon Wilson on bass). But after one of their tours, Jon decided he didn't want to be in the band anymore and so they asked their cousin Garron to be part of the band. Now, they've finished recording their next album and are hoping for a summer release.
