I finally finished my Vox banner!  I decided to add some flowers in the background to make it a little more interesting.

So I should probably explain that the model used for the banner is Marijne van der Vlugt, model/singer of Salad.

Nobody took Salad seriously because the singer was a super model and she did not write any of the songs.

I have no idea where Salad is nowadays (they broke up and I know Marijne joined another band but I can't be bothered to do the research right now).

The thing to note about "Party" is that lovely growl she does....

Their album art work got second place for Art Vinyl's best of 2006.

What makes this band interesting is that they're doing the 60s pop girl retro thing, and it's working.  I'm interested in how long this sound will carry on (or if there are going to be imitators).

My favorite is Rose (aka Rosay). She's certainly foxy.

Kenickie released two albums (At the Club and Get In) and pretty much broke up.

Lauren Laverne went onto her solo career and Marie du Santiago and Emmy-Kate Montrose went on to form Rosita.

I'm including one of my favorite songs, "Hey Hey Baby" which was recorded on a radio session. The person recording it suddenly boost up the audio in the middle of it, so the recording isn't the greatest quality.  It's still a gem of a song though.

Harry Chapin is most famous for his song, "Cats in the Cradle".

Here's an interesting tidbit about his death (taken from deathbycar):

Folk singer Harry Chapin died in a bizarre 1981 accident on New York's Long Island Expressway. Chapin had turned on his emergency flashers and was slowing and changing lanes when his car was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer rig. Sparks from the collision set Chapin's car on fire. According to the New York Times obituary, the truck driver "cut Mr. Chapin from his seatbelt and dragged him from the flaming wreckage," but Chapin was pronounced dead shortly afterwards. Further examination showed that Chapin had suffered a fatal heart attack -- though whether the heart attack led to the accident or vice-versa was never determined.
