We were supposed to see Blondshell with
Suki Waterhouse in
Jan 2023, but due to bad weather, the show was postponed. The new date is now August 3, 2023, and the venue has been upgraded to First Avenue. Unfortunately, due to conflicting schedule, I do not believe Blondshell will be opening for the August show (since logistically, she'll be in California around this time).

12 Rods
with Crimes
at First Avenue
first-avenue.com
Beloved Minneapolis indie rock band
12 Rods is back with a new album,
If We Stayed Alive, their first release in twenty-one years.
The new single, “Private Spies” was previewed and lead songwriter Ryan Olcott adds, “Private Spies is about those of us who control and document the finest rumors, secrets and gossip in our communities. Written over 20 years ago amidst my power faction research in socialite Minneapolis. Probably my hardest song to sing because of the massive amount of embedded data translated from the captured intel.”
Pitchfork loves 12 Rods, so naturally, they added the
If We Stayed Alive album on their “The 46 Most Anticipated Albums of Summer 2023.”
If We Stayed Alive, 12 Rods’ fifth studio full-length is slated for release on July 7th via Husky Pants Records and American Dreams Records.
In support of the album, 12 Rods will hold their record release show in Minneapolis, at First Avenue, on July 14th. This is the band’s first live performance since 2015.
Crimes (21 Oct 2013)
|
Update:
Crimes will provide support for this show. Originally a solo project from Andrew Jansen, it turned into a full band, named after the content of the songs he was writing about, Crimes.
We previously saw Crimes in
Oct 2013 and noted, "Minneapolis' Crimes started the show with a garage, almost shoegazy, set, playing songs from their 2013 album Thin Sunlight, plus, I think a new one that had lyrics like "I'd like to stay away.""

at Armory
armorymn.com
Yellowcard is back! They’re playing an all-ages show at the Armory, in Minneapolis, on July 15th.
The band reunited in 2022 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their iconic breakthrough album
Ocean Avenue at Riot Fest in Chicago (six years since the band called it quits in 2016)… and since then, the group signed to Equal Vision Records and produced a new EP
Childhood Eyes, set for release on July 7. This is the first new music since 2016.
Speaking of 2016, we wrote
about the farewell tour: “This will be the last time you will ever see Yellowcard (Ryan Key, Sean Mackin, Ryan Mendez, and Josh Portman). The band is on their farewell tour, in support of their latest self-titled album via Hopeless Records. If you have loved the band in the past, go show your support on this final show... and dress up because it’s Halloween!”
Mayday Parade,
Story of the Year and
This Wild Life to open.
