Blue Bird, a new band from Omaha, is very excited to announce that we will be embarking on our first-ever tour this summer in support of Metamorphosis, our debut EP! While the band is new, our members are hardened veterans of the Omaha music scene, having toured the United States and the world in Eagle Seagull (PIAS Recordings) and Thunder Power (Slumber Party Records), just to name a few.
So far, we have been very well received by the press!
Blue Bird incorporates everything to be missed about the untainted innocence of generations past and combines it with the exciting prospects of the future, all while holding your hand. Aptly-named title track, “Metamorphosis”, is the most progressive and fully blossomed on the EP, and perhaps the most fascinating with its intriguing harmonies and mentions of a lover changed. Overall, the la-dee-dahs and lovebird tunes are perfect for, well, makin’ out. - Jessie Cape, The Vinyl District (Austin, TX)
Frontwoman Marta Fiedler indeed sounds like a Nebraska version of Jenny Lewis on songs derived from the indie-Americana template. You’ll be reminded of Lewis and She & Him and The Mynabirds and all the other women-led bands that seem to be making a mark on indie these days — especially locally, when was the last time we had so many women contributing so much musically? Fiedler has an advantage over a lot of them in how she writes songs — there was always something in the compositions that surprised me. Maybe it was just her own voice slipping through. - Tim McMahan, lazy-i.com & The Reader (Omaha, NE)
Blue Bird consists of seven young people uniting musical tastes, whether it be folk, soul, or Americana, in a powerful and melodious cloth. At first sight, Blue Bird is reminiscent of Jenny Lewis, but if you listen attentively and more deeply, within the group lurks much greater potential. They have voice, melodies, and seven pairs of burning eyes, measured to subdue the stage. And in them I trust. - Dmitry Vesnin, Big Echo (Novosibirsk, Russia)
In order to fund our tour, however, we need to raise some funds. Feeding seven people and paying for gas at $80 a tank is quite a costly proposition, not to mention renting a van. So, we've launched a project on arts-centric fundraising platform Kickstarter to raise money, which can be found at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/252364174/blue-bird-is-going-on-tour?ref=live. We set the original goal at $1200, which we've met thanks to some generous backers, but we really need to get to $2000 in order to make the tour happen. Plus, there are fantastic rewards for people who donate, including downloads, posters, CDs, t-shirts, original oil paintings, and even a song written just for you!
We only have six more days to raise the rest of the money we need. Any mention you can give to our project or our EP would be very much appreciated.
