Sky Ferreira and How To Dress Well are doing co-headline tour next month. I'm not surprise to see that the tour is centered around the SXSW dates (which most bands are doing - so expect a ton of your favorite indie bands…
Songs from their brief set were mostly from their 2013 album, Open Season, including "Flowers Bloom", "Once Around the House", "Love Is All", "In a Dream", and their closer and title track, "Open Season". Interestingly enough, they also did a cover of College's "A Real Hero", which surprisingly, Alt-J did the same cover, over at The Varsity the same night.
HOW TO DRESS WELL
Krell has a large following in Minneapolis, as I found out he used to live at "Fourth and Fourth" as he puts it. Many of his fans and friends were in the audience, most of them picking up the 12" vinyl. I don't know if there were crossover fans for Sky Ferreira, who came on stage as last on the bill.
The thing about Sky is that she is petite. Don't let that fool you, she can still belt it out, especially on the louder songs like "I Will".
If you look at the setlist, it's surprisingly very short. She only played for about forty minutes, nothing from her earlier works (such as any tracks from As If! or singles like "17", "One", or "Obsession"). This tells me a few things, either she wants to distance herself from her earlier works, or that those songs are harder to play live. I think it's the former, her music style certainly seems to focus away from her dance/pop beginning.
Anyway, the How to Dress Well/Sky Ferreira tour is still working its way across the country. Check them out if they are coming to your town.
