at Skyway Theatre
Saturday, 07/23/16, 7pm ($36 - $56)
It’s been a few years since we saw Citizen Cope, and this upcoming Saturday show at the Skyway Theatre is described as a solo acoustic show. There are a few reasons for these acoustic shows: the cost is minimal (you’re not paying all the band members), these shows are generally meant for dedicated fans and really a great way to really “listen” to the music as generally it’s a quieter, or “intimate”, experience.
Opening the show will be Detroit’s Mayaeni (pronounced Ma-yay-nee), touring in promotion of her latest Basement Kid, as well as her Elocution EP (released July 8th via Jay Z’s Roc Nation label).

at Turf Club
Saturday, 07/23/16, 8pm ($10)
We Are The Willows will be headlining the Turf Club this Saturday, July 23rd. The local band has been touring this summer in support of their recently-released record, Picture (Portrait) Parts 1 & 2 (Homestead Records/Amble Down Records), which recently included a Daytrotter and Iowa Public Radio session.
NPR Morning Edition recently spotlight the Picture (Portrait) Parts 1 & 2 album, describing it as a series of 350 letters written by songwriter/frontman Peter Miller’s grandfather to his grandmother while he was stationed in the Southwest Pacific during World War II.
Matthäus and Fathom Lane to open the Turf Club show. We Are The Willows’ next stop will be The Riot Room in Kansas City, Missouri (loves company).
