Lemmy died at his home in Los Angeles from an "extremely aggressive cancer". Considering that he regularly smoked, drank, and did his share of drugs... it is kind of remarkable that he lived as long as he did.
Alice Cooper, among many other famous musicians, had their say: "He was innovative, true to his art and continually relevant even though he never cared about being relevant. ... He was always creating and redefining hard rock and the role of bass within it. Offstage, he was a gem. I can't think of anyone who didn't adore Lemmy. He was such an original character in rock, and I will truly miss seeing him out on the road."
UPDATE: "Unforgettable" singer Natalie Cole passed away on December 31st. The news hit us on on New Year's Day.
