I wonder if Veronica Falls stole their name from the teen-detective Veronica Mars? Lara doesn't like their name, but she thought their music is "very Pitchfork-tastic".
Cate Le Bon
Her haunting voice and music has this medieval folky quality to it that made me think her music belong to a different time, perhaps the middle ages, or the 70s. The live songs played are either a slow burn or a burning blaze, but equally enjoyable. Highlight of the set was "Eyes So Bright" with her "I love you-oooh-ooh" lyrics and her closer song, "Ploughing Out", both parts one and two.
I actually have both her album, Me Oh My (via Irony Bored Records), and her new one, CYRK (via The Control Group Records). Both are available now.
Looking over their cover art, the two sisters, Jennifer and Jessie, seem to have a thing for trash porn.
As you can see from their set list, they did play their new December 2011 single, "Searching Through The Past", a 750 limited 7" pressing that sold out.
Veronica Falls Setlist
As expected from a debut album, they practically did the whole album live, throwing in a couple of brand new songs near the end. Memorable songs from the set, for me were "Bad Feeling", "Stephen", and their last song, "Come On Over".
PS, If you were wondering why I'm going to shows in February, just to clarify: I am still in winter hibernation, but the weather's been great lately, it's like winter never came. I'm still reluctant to accepting shows as it can snow at any corner.
